X-men: 'do we want this to be' the last stand? - X-Men: The Last Stand Reviews

As a huge fan of X-Men and X2 I could not wait til X-Men 3 came out and i'll admit my expectations were very high but us finally seeing the danger room or a sentinal (head only) or the unstoppable juggernaut isn't what i had hoped to be the best parts of the movie. I had a feeling this was just going to be a big budget blowout as a finale to a very successful franchise and unfortunately i was right. Although the story wasnt that bad as far as being a fan of X-Men one could ask what were they thinking? (warning: *spoilers ahead) Since when is the phoenix a split personality not a being of destruction throughout the universe. Now at first the story started out very well we got to see some cool things and we see Cyclops still grieving over Jean Grey which i had expected but knew they werent going to give Cyclops the screen time he deserved. *Dont even get me started on they just kill off Cyclops like he was never a big character in X-Men.* Then of course Magneto once again fighting for mutant superiority comes along as he recruits his so called army. I really dont know why this has to be the last x-men movie for anyone who has at least seen the cartoon show knows of at least a dozen villains that can be featured in a movie but no lets just keep the old guy from lord of the rings as the bad guy for every x-men movie. A little side note i do like lord of the rings. Anyway the story stayed at a certain level of interest never really increasing with nothing more than a couple of dramatic scenes although there were a couple of scenes that were pretty funny. Then of course "the cure" played a very large part in the film as in when angel is introduced to take the cure which he refuses and does that cool jumping out of the window and flying thing. But that was pretty much it Angel didnt do anything the rest of the movie seriously dont see him for like an hour then talks a little then we see at end briefly twice but i am glad to say Beast was awesome i think Kelsey Grammar did a great job. Now with a movie crammed with so many characters what does a writer think of to do 'hm lets just have phoenix destroy everything at the end' and her demise although dramatic was too simple. It feels like Brett Ratner and the producers put all these things in the movie to really press the fact that this was going to be the last one with deaths that are just like oh come on thats not right and life changing choices made by the cure to a couple of characters. The ending was okay kinda left everyone at peace but we do see a character doing something significant only a for a second then it goes to black. But be sure to stick around after the credits for another significant clip. The bottom line for this movie is it was good not great but good and when i say good i mean like matrix revolutions good but x-men 3 was far more satisfying. I say X-men 3 is worth your money a little bit of disappointing closure for x-men fans and a pretty cool and dramatic film for moviegoers Just be at peace knowing that this summer's catch phrase will be "Don't you know who I am? I'm the Juggernaut B****!"
