A cure is found, sadly it cant revive this film - X-Men: The Last Stand Reviews

To start, I'll say I personally have no emotional attachments to the x men comics, never read them as a child, although I was familiar with most of the characters. I saw these three movies because theres something cool about mutants possessing different powers. So having x-men and xmen2 under my belt, I figure why not, I'll give the 3rd one a shot. I've been anticipating this film for awhile, granted Mr Singer is no longer aboard, but hey Brett Ratner can get the job done, I mean he's working with same cast, how bad could it be? Well its bad, and not Incredible Hulk bad, or even Fantastic Four bad, but compared to its predecessors it is dreadful. If this truly is the last of the x men movies, it hurts even more. Most people have waited to see the story of the "phoenix" unfold, and prepare to be disappointed, Jean Grey has maybe 7 lines of dialogue throughout the movie, and there is no struggle between Jean Grey and Phoenix, they basically skip ahead to her transformation into Dark Phoenix, who destroys buildings and disintegrates people all the while looking like a ghost from a haunted house. A cure has been found for mutants, they say its voluntary for any mutant interested, turns out they intend on using it on all mutants, Magneto is upset by this forms an army to fight the cure and destroy the mutant child who helped to produce this cure; meanwhile the x men (6 strong now because Mr Ratner decided to re write the history of this series and kills off two xmen in the first half hour) decide to stop Magneto (although they disagree with the cure of mutants, but they wont let magneto go in and take care of business, weird) and also they want to rescue jean grey, blahblahblah. Theres a few good action sequences, especially during the climatic scenes on Alcatraz...Storm is alot better this time around, Wolverine gets some action in, and this stuff is entertaining briefly. Finally the end of the movie draws near. I was looking at my watch frequently throughout the movie, by substraction I figured maybe theres 15minutes left.... Phoenix (who at this point hasnt spoken or lifted a finger in 45 minutes) decides to ripe everything to shreds, including mutants, humans, alcatraz. Most of the mutants are smart and decide to bail, Wolverine sticks around because apparently hes the only one that can stop her, and somehow he's adapted the new power of healing peeling flesh from his body, hmmm...and he gets to use his claws one last time to set things right. I understand that when it comes to a trilogy, theres alot you have to cram in to close a franchise; however, in a case like the x men youre not allowed to rewrite what actually happens to these characters, that doesnt make a good movie, its only going to enrage the xmen/marvel fans, like or not, these are the people that matter. Lets be honest, these movies are made for fans of the xmen comics, everyones invited of course, but these adaptations are made to make these people proud. Bryan Singer at least didnt veer too far from the original storyline..I guess I can blame the writers too for how the movie progresses, but ultimately its the directors vision and his duty to say 'no this isnt right, it has to be changed' but he didnt.
