The ?glorious? last stand - X-Men: The Last Stand Reviews
Selflessness, sacrifice, loss?
By these three words I summarize to you what made this movie so great.
"X-Men 3: The Last Stand" is one of very few movies where the sequel had something new to offer and went beyond expectations showing implacable storyline quality and fascinating visual effects. It repaired most of the damage that the second installment of X-Men (X-Men United) caused by its dull events and character chemistry. X-3 reminded me how the 5th installment of Batman (Batman: Begins) turned out to be an unexpected wonderful surprise. In this installment which is the concluding third and final of a rather successful comic based trilogy. Nothing is more moving and tragic when several of the good guys meet their fates. Be prepared for unexpected and interesting turn of events. This one is NOT the classic "good" wins "bad" loses in the usual childish simplicity.
Jean (Janssen) is a big pillar in the plot however her dialog was very limited being busy destroying everything comes across her way (reminds us of Willow in season 6 finale of Buffy: The Vampire Slayer). Wolverine (Jackman) as always the one who makes X-Men the great movie it is by being the reckless and rude yet big hearted mutant whom stands in the end to save the day. Magneto (McKellen) brings his usual undisputed performance and credibility to the role. Professor X (Stewart) does his good old character ever since Star Trek. The Beast (Kelsey (a.k.a. Frasier Crane)) gave a magnificent performance as the diplomat whom toward the end showed the ability to kick some mutant butt.
X-Men: The Last Stand definitely goes into the collectibles. If you liked the first part of X-Men, I guarantee you are going to LOVE this one!!
Hint: If you didn?t see the movie yet, don?t leave the movie in a hurry, there is a twist at the end.
